UNAIR NEWS – Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) held an Adjunct Professorship Award Presentation to Ass. Prof. Liong An Liem, MD., Ph.D., FIPP from Maastricht UMC + Netherland, Anesthesiology and Pain Management Department. The awarding ceremony was held at AULA FK UNAIR, Thursday, June 27.
The awarding ceremony was attended by Dean of FK UNAIR Prof. Dr. Soetojo, dr., Sp. U, Director of Universitas Airlangga Hospital Prof. Dr. Nasronudin, dr., Dp.PD-KPTI, and UNAIR Rector represented by Vice Rector 1 Prof. Djoko Santoso, dr., Ph.D., K-GH., FINASIM.
Prof. Liong delivered his scientific oration, ” The Role of Basic Science in Pain Management,” to invited guests and students of Specialist Medical Education Program (PPDS) of FK UNAIR.
In his remarks, Prof. Soetojo revealed if one of the reasons for awarding adjunct professorship to Prof. Liong is to improve the quality of education in UNAIR, especially in FK, which this year will hold ASIIN accreditation (Accreditation Agency for Degree Programs in Engineering, Informatics / Computer Science, Natural Sciences and Mathematics).
“Adjunct Professor (program, ed) at Faculty of Medicine is about every six months, in the hope that professors from different countries can improve the reputation and quality of Faculty of Medicine which is scheduled to hold ASIIN accreditation this year,” said Prof. Soetojo.
Meanwhile, Prof. Djoko stated that UNAIR has reached 651-700 QSWUR and can still be improved as academic reputation, employer reputation, and student-faculty are in the Top 500 of the world.
With the Adjunct Professorship given by FK UNAIR, it will further improve the quality of UNAIR until 2020 can achieve Top 500 World-Class Universities.
“Our rector emphasized if the position of 651-700 QSWUR can be improved to Top 500 in 2020 as our academic reputation is already at Top 401. But if it is supported with citation and join publication, it will enhance UNAIR ranking internationally, “stated UNAIR Vice Rector I Prof. Djoko. (*)
