UNAIR Ranked Among Top 5 Universities in Indonesia QS Version

UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga reinstated itself among Top 5 universities in Indonesia. It was shown from the report released by QS World University Rankings (QS WUR) as a world university ranking institution. On June 19, QS World University Rankings released its latest ranking results of universities around the world, including the ranking of universities in Indonesia.

In the report announcement, there are nine Indonesian universities in the top 1000 of the world’s best universities. Universitas Airlangga is one of the best five universities. It is ranked above Padjadjaran University (Unpad) in sixth position, Bina Nusantara University (BINUS) at seventh place, and Diponegoro University (Undip) and Sepuluh Nopember Institute of Technology (ITS) in eighth and ninth position.

Regarding the results of QS World University Rankings (QS WUR), Rector of Universitas Airlangga Prof. Moh. Nasih held a press conference on Wednesday, June 19, in his office, Management Office Campus C UNAIR.

The rector elaborated there are nine Indonesian universities in the world’s top 1,000. They are University of Indonesia, Gadjah Mada University, Bandung Institute of Technology, Bogor Agricultural Institute, Universitas Airlangga, Padjajaran University, Bina Nusantara University (BINUS), Diponegoro University (Undip), and the Institute Sepuluh Nopember Technology (ITS).

The rector continued, universities in East Java that made the top 1,000 this year are UNAIR and ITS while Universitas Brawijaya failed to retain its previous position.

“UNAIR made an extraordinary leap. From the previous ranking in number # 751-800, UNAIR rose to number # 651-700. For UNAIR, the rank improvement was the highest achievement since 2014, “explained Prof. Nasih.

According to Prof. Nasih, there are some key indicators of how the universities are ranked. The first indicator is the employer reputation. For this indicator, UNAIR is the world’s top 393. The assessment is made from the relevance of education towards the real professional world. It is related to UNAIR graduates’ performance and contribution in various types of organizations. He also said that the score was based on the employers’ assessment on UNAIR graduates.

Next, the second indicator is an academic reputation. For this indicator, UNAIR is in the top 401 of the world. It shows that the quality of UNAIR education is recognized by people all over the world.

The four UNAIR indicators that experienced improvement were employer reputation (ranked 393), academic reputation (ranked 401), faculty student (ranked 458); and international faculty (ranked 601+).

“We would like to thank all parties for all the contribution. As one of the best universities in Indonesia, Universitas Airlangga has to improve its capacity and quality,” said the rector.

“Especially to realize its vision and missions to become an independent, innovative, leading, and pioneer university to achieve Top 500 World University Ranking,” he stated. (*)
