UNAIR Holds Donation Event for 1,000 Orphans

UNAIR NEWS – Ministry of Community Service (Pengmas) Student Executive Body (BEM) of Universitas Airlangga together with UNAIR Social Development Center (PUSPAS) and Ulul Azmi UNAIR Mosque held a donation activity entitled “Donation for 1,000 Orphans in Universitas Airlangga”. The event held at Main Hall, 2nd floor, Azmi Ulul Mosque, Universitas Airlangga, on Sunday, May 26.

Also attending the event, Dr. Tika Widiastuti, S.E, M.Si as Head of Social Fund Management Center (PUSPAS) and accompanied by 17 orphanages in Surabaya, as well as around 325 orphans. Besides, the activity filled with reading stories about honesty and early fasting education handled by Surabaya Storytelling Community. This included Banjari UNAIR, angklung performance by foster children at Thousand Smile Foundation, and door prizes distribution with verse-playing games and memorizing Al-Quran surah and bicycles as the main prize.

Muhammad Fajar Faliasthiunus Pradipta, Head of Ulul Azmi mosque, expressed his hope at the event. The activity is expected to give a significant impact to all orphans in there.

Furthermore, Mochamad Ferdyan Nasrullah, Director General of Community Social Services (SOCMA) BEM UNAIR 2019, conveyed that the donation event held for children who attended the event to be enthusiastic in facing the month of Ramadan. Including for now and after.

“Not only beneficial for the current Ramadhan month but at the time after Ramadan, the enthusiasm to restore the line of goodness,” he said.

Ferdy as the event committee representative was very pleased and grateful to Rector UNAIR, PUSPAS UNAIR, Ulul Azmi Mosque Management, BEM UNAIR, and academic community of all UNAIR faculties. This includes all donors who have participated in donating for 1,000 orphans the event.

Meanwhile, Prof., Ir. Moch. Amin Alamsjah, M.Sc., Ph.D. as UNAIR Vice Rector III also attended and opened the event by donating and giving several gifts to two representatives of orphans.

“To be a devout person requires a process, full of test and patience,” said Prof. Amin in his speech.
