UNAIR NEWS – Student Executive Body (BEM) Faculty of Public Health (FKM) Universitas Airlangga 2019 initiated the annual TIKOPH work program with the theme of Education and Health at Pacar Keling area, Surabaya. TIKKOPH or Communication Team of Public Health is a club under the auspices of Community Service Department of BEM FKM.
As a student club, TIKKOPH is engaged in the empowerment of children. Precisely targeting children from Kindergarten elementary school (SD) class VI.
Nur Hasanah as Head of TIKKOPH 2019 explained that the program is generally carried out four times in one year period. However, it could be more according to the program.
For its management, TIKKOPH opened a club system by opening members according to the management year of FKM UNAIR students. TIKKOPH also uses more interesting teaching media.
“We deliver the material according to the age of children who tend to get bored easily. So, we convey the material not as usual but using stories, games, and through media that can attract their interest, “he said.
In addition, we uses audio visual media. Namely, by utilizing technological developments with short film footage or videos on laptop. Moreover, we use songs that are easily memorized by children, then with visuals using images.
Nur is very confident with the theme of education and health are suitable to be applied in Pacar Keling area. Moreover, it can motivates children to reach their dreams. By giving them advice to continue their study.
“We want to motivates them. They have to stay in school and achieve their dream.”he said.
“So, we want them to have the spirit in continuing their education,” he added.
The response from the residents of Pacar Keling area were great. Furthermore, several children enthusiastically participated in 2019 TIKKOPH event. Each meeting were attended by more than 20 children. (*)
