FIB Disseminates Fast Track Program for Students

UNAIR NEWS – Besides undergraduate programs, almost all universities in Indonesia also provide master’s degree programs, and typically, it requires a year and one-half to two years of full-time study. But it may take longer for several factors, one of them is working while taking their studies.

Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) also provides many master programs spread throughout faculties. In Faculty of Humanities, there are two master’s programs, Master in Linguistics Program and Master in Literature and Cultural Studies.

On that occasion, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) Faculty of Humanities (FIB) held a Fast Track program dissemination and attended by 75 FIB 2016 students on Monday, May 13, 2019, in Chairil Anwar Hall, FIB UNAIR. The Fast Track Program is a bachelor’s and master’s degree program that can be taken in just 5 years. This program is a program by FIB UNAIR for FIB students who meet the requirements.

UNAIR has three faculties that provide opportunities for students to join a Fast Track program. They are Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Science and Technology and Faculty of Humanities. Mochtar Lutfi, SS, M. Hum as coordinator staff of Faculty of Humanities explained that the Fast Track program could be followed by FIB students with a 3.51 GPA from the first semester to the sixth semester, ELPT score above 450, and had taken 110 credits and Community Service Program, and supported by the family.

“Since its inception in 2015, a lot of applicants applied for the Fast Track program. But who passed the selection were only around 30-45% of them. It happens because the selection process is very strict, ” he concluded.

Nita Puspitasari as a 2016 Indonesian Language and Literature student also expressed her hope that she can take the Fast Track program. It was her dream since the first semester.
“By joining the Fast Track program, I can shorten my study for S1 and S2, which is only within 5 years. Besides, I will also make my family proud. Therefore I will fight so I can join the Fast track, ” she added. (*)
