UNAIR NEWS – As one of the best universities in Indonesia, Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) continues to make achievements. Not only in academic field, this time UNAIR won an award for its achievements in the field of community service.

On May 4, UNAIR received an award as the most institution that held blood donation events in Surabaya. The award was given to commemorate 155th World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day.

The award was in the form of a gold pin presented by Blood Transfusion Unit of Indonesian Red Cross (PMI) of Surabaya City, which was also celebrating its 63rd anniversary.

The gold pin was awarded due to UNAIR active contribution in holding blood donation events, which was fifty times in one year. For the second and third rank was Surabaya State University (UNESA) and Veteran National Development University (UPN) Surabaya.

The gold pin was officially given at the award ceremony held at Graha Sawunggaling, Surabaya. This achievement shows that UNAIR and its students are active in promoting blood donation programs. It was justified by Putra, KSR PMI UNAIR Commander.

“This year has been the third time UNAIR received an award from PMI Surabaya. For 2019 alone until this month, UNAIR has held six blood donation events, “explained Putra.

KSR PMI UNAIR as the liaison between the university and PMI hoped that this year UNAIR can hold more blood donation activities. KSR PMI UNAIR is also ready to facilitate faculties and organizations in UNAIR to hold blood donation activities.

“We hope that in the future UNAIR can continue to maintain the award as the institution with most blood donation events,” said Putra.

Putra said that this year there will be a Grand Blood Donation event for 65th UNAIR Anniversary activities. It will be held in a wider scope. KSR PMI has conducted dissemination related to the event at the representatives of university Student Executive Board (BEM), faculty BEM, student associations, and student activity units.

KSR PMI also expressed their gratitude for all UNAIR academics’ supports. KSR PMI also hoped that this award can improve confidence of UNAIR academics to organize blood donor activities. Hopefully, UNAIR can maintain this achievement. (*)
