UNAIR NEWS – Student Activity Unit (UKM) Student Regiment (Satmenwa) of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) once again made an achievement in Fun Shooting event held by Satmenwa 870 Turangga Ceta, Widya Karya Catholic University. The competition was held on May 3-4, 2019 at Air Force Detachment 2 Special Force, Abd. Rachman Saleh Airbase, Malang.

In the competition for student regiments and Indonesian Student Regiment Alumni Association (IARMI), UNAIR sent 5 elected members. One of the members who won was Eka Candra, a member from Faculty of Medicine (FK) UNAIR.

In the interview, Eka revealed that there were two categories of competitions, Hirbak 3 Rifles and Pistols. On that occasion, he won 3rd place in Hirbak 3 Rifle qualification category.

” Alhamdulillah, in this event I got third place with 39 points from 50 points,” Eka said.

Eka revealed that for this event, he did not make any preparations. However, he gained experience from the previous shooting championship and prayed to his Creator.

“Due to limited access to the use of firearms in civil society, so I only rely on knowledge gained in the previous championship and not forget to always pray to Allah SWT,” he added.

Being asked about the toughest opponents during the match, Eka said his toughest opponent was not the other participants but himself.

“The toughest opponent is yourself. Because when holding a weapon and aiming at a target, that’s where self-mastery really determines success in achieving the target, “Eka said.

In the end of the interview, Eka shared his experience he had gained while joining Menwa organization.

“In my opinion UKM Menwa is very special. Because I was not only taught about organizations, but more than that. I am taught to be more disciplined and responsible for every action I take. And this is very useful for me, “he said. (*)
