UNAIR N EWS – Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) Center for Social Fund Management (PUSPAS) continues to improve its programs. As a part of Grand Opening of Ramadhan Mubarak Airlangga (GO RMA) on Saturday, May 5, 2019, PUSPAS officially collaborated with Dompet Dhuafa Foundation.
Being held in front of Ulul Azmi UNAIR Mosque, Head of PUSPAS Dr. Tika Widiastuti, SE., M.Si. and Director of Student Affairs Dr. M. Hadi Subhan, SH., MH. signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Mochammad Rizzqi Aladin as a representative of Dompet Dhuafa Foundation.
Coordinator of Fund Collection, Agung Lutfi Fauzan, S.Pi., M.Si. said that the form of collaboration was not only related to waqf and zakat dissemination program to UNAIR academic community, but also related to the program raising more funds for student scholarships.
“Previously, PUSPAS had a program to provide funding to students, but only related to Single Tuition Fee (UKT) and Student Exchange funding. We haven’t had scholarship program, “Agung added.
Regarding scholarships, students who will receive the scholarship will receive guidance directly from Dompet Dhuafa Foundation, but still with curriculum set by UNAIR.
Tika said that with this cooperation, PUSPAS provided facilities to all UNAIR academics to distribute infaq, zakat and waqf, especially during Ramadan. This is realized by the establishment of zakat corner in front of Ulul Azmi Campus C Mosque, and Nuruz Zaman Campus B Mosque, which will be opened every day during Ramadan.
“Ramadan is usually synonymous with charity. With this zakat corner, we want to increase public awareness on charity, in the form of zakat, infaq, and waqf, ” she added.
As an official unit appointed as Zakat Collector Unit National Zakat Agency (BAZNAS), PUSPAS has received official permission as a zakat distribution agency. Zakat granted through PUSPAS will be channeled directly to students, both in the form of UKT assistance, Student Exchange funding, or scholarships.
By channeling zakat through PUSPAS, muzaki (people who donate) will get a Zakat Donor Identification Number (NPWZ), which is a proof of deposit and can be used as for tax deduction. (*)
