UNAIR NEWS – In order to support the university towards Top 500 World Class University (WCU), Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) held a Research Outputs Workshop and Signing Session for Research Assignment by Directorate of Research and Community Service in 2019. The activity was held on Thursday, May 2, 2019 at Novotel Samator, Surabaya.

Prof. Drs. Hery Purnobasuki, M.Si., Ph.D. explained that there are several things that need to be considered when the lecturers conduct research. First, when carrying out research and in official trip, they must have letter of assignment. Second, any purchase of research equipment should be discussed first with the treasurer.

“And what is not less important, neatly store the data and proof of purchase related to conducted research,” she added.

Prof. Heri revealed that in order to achieve WCU’s target, UNAIR must immediately improve its readability in the eyes of the world. One way is to increase citation.

“A lot of cooperation with foreign countries has been done to support this,” he added.

Dr. Ir. Mustangimah, M.Sc., Head of Subdirectorate of Research Capacity Improvement attended as the speaker. Dr. Imah said that this was the first time she and the drafting team talked in front of the forum about the criteria for research outputs.

“Regarding the discussion on research outputs, UNAIR is undeniably always in front,” she concluded.

In the workshop Dr. Imah discusses three different types of research with different outputs, basic research, applied research and developmental research.

“Broadly speaking, the output of each of the three research is different, thus, the different requirements, “he added.

Furthermore Dr. Imah explained in details about 18 types of research outputs. They are scientific publication in international journals, national journals, proceedings, ISBN research books, chapter books, methods, blue print, systems, models, policy texts, Appropriate Technology (TTG), patents, research and development prototypes, social science and technology products educational arts that are ready to be mass produced, commercialized and / or used by the community / industry / government / organization, trial results documents, feasibility study documents, and business plans. Dr. Imah discussed about the eligibility criteria, the contents of the researcher, supporting evidence, and invalid reasons for an output.

“Do not let our energy wasted only for doing what is in this column (invalid reasons, ed),” she added.

Furthermore, the event was closed with the signing session for Research Assignment by Directorate of Research and Community Service in 2019. There were 267 research titles signed by 222 UNAIR lecturers. (*)
