UNAIR Faculty of Vocational Studies Collaborates with 6 Institutions in China

UNAIR NEWS – Faculty of Vocational Studies of Universitas Airlangga continues to strengthen itself as an international standard faculty. This effort is evidenced by the established cooperation, not only with domestic institutions but also international institutions.

One of the international collaborations established was with universities and institutions in China. On Monday, April 29, UNAIR Faculty of Vocational Studies signed a collaboration MoU with six institutions in China. The collaboration will be in the form of collaborative academic programs. The signing session was held at Suzhou Vocational University.

The six institutions are Suzhou Vocational University, Zhejiang Business Technology Institute, Jiangsu Agri-animal Husbandry Vocational College, Jiangsu Vocational Institute of Architectural Technology, Jiangsu Vocational College of Information Technology and International Cultural Communication Center (ICCC).

UNAIR Faculty of Vocational Studies delegation was represented by Prof. Dr. Retna Apsari, M. Si as Vice Dean I. Prof. Retna said that this cooperation was part of the effort to show faculty commitment for internationalization of the program.

“Vocational education must make adjustments based on the real needs of the community. This collaboration will make this happen,” explained Prof. Retna.

This collaboration is not only carried out by Faculty of Vocational Studies. The faculty collaborates with East Java Region 7 Association of Informatics and Computers (APTIKOM). There were 15 representatives from several universities in Indonesia, such as Atlas Nusantara College of Engineering (STTAR Malang), Indonesian College of Informatics and Computers (STIKI Malang), Malang State University, Brawijaya University Malang, Ichsan University Gorontalo, South Sulawesi, Bina Sarana Informatika University Jakarta, STIMIK Nusa Mandiri Jakarta, and Universitas Airlangga.

The signing session was attended by the leaders of each campus. UNAIR delegates were welcomed by Prof. Dr. Zhang Jianjun, the Vice Rector of Suzhou Vocational University and the Dean and International Offices of each university. The event was moderated by Assoc. Prof. Tang Xiao Jun as Deputy Dean of International College.

In addition to MoU signing, benchmarking activity was also carried out to various laboratories owned by Suzhou Vocational University. The laboratory integrated with cognitive learning with a maximum number of classes of 40 students gave the true feel of vocational studies. Benchmarking activity was also continued to stakeholders in the industry.

In the future, the forms of collaboration carried out are student exchanges, exchange of lecturers and staff, educational and cultural exchange activities, lecturer development, language courses and teaching, research project cooperation, establishment of language training, and other forms of collaboration.

“For the implementation of this collaboration, there will be students sent to student mobility program and lecturers taking part in TVET (Technical and Vocational Education and Training) international training as well as international research and publication collaboration for fields that are in line with partners in China, “explained Prof. Retna.

With this collaboration, more spirit towards internationalization is expected by UNAIR Faculty of Vocational Studies. (*)
