UNAIR NEWS – Competition in the business world is rising every year and getting more fierce. It was driven by the inevitable revolution 4.0.

This phenomenon requires the community to adapt and also think more creatively in starting their business. In addition, the accuracy in taking advantage of opportunities must also be considered well.

To face the challenges, 33 students of Management Program from Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) UNAIR attended the Startup Weekend program at Asia Pacific University, Kuala Lumpur Malaysia from Friday, April 26 to Sunday April 28, 2019.

The purpose of participating in the program was to introduce UNAIR Management programs to the outside world and also give students the opportunity to explore their abilities, ideas, and soft skills. This is done to prepare their competitiveness in the future.

In the three-day event, students were given the opportunity to present their ideas for a minute, then vote ideas and form teams. This was certainly very useful and gave a lot of experience to 33 management students who participated in the event. From the data obtained, participants who participated in the program were not only students, but also startup owners and businessmen who had been involved in the field for a long time.

Moreover, by participating in the program, students have the opportunity to realize their ideas and consult experts directly if they encounter difficulties. They can also have network or new colleagues who have the same vision in realizing ideas.

Mayliya Alfi Nurrita, 2015 FEB UNAIR Management student participated in the program by shared her experiences from the event. They were in forms of presentation experience, getting links, and honing soft skill.

“We come from Management programs that are formed to become leaders or concept makers in the business world. Therefore, in this program we are very enthusiastic because we can find out how fierce competition is in the digital world and how to find solutions, ” she said.

May also advised UNAIR students to actively hone their English language skills and continue to innovate. That is something crucial in global competition. (*)
