AUBMO Ready to Welcome 2019 Bidikmisi Students

UNAIR NEWS – The announcement of State University National Admission Selection (SNMPTN) took place several weeks ago. From thousands of freshmen who were admitted through 2019 SNMPTN program in Universitas Airlangga, 384 freshmen were bidikmisi recipients.

As in previous years, hundreds of Bidikmisi students will go through different mechanism from other students. Therefore, Universitas Airlangga Bidikmisi Organization (AUBMO) made various preparations to assist the process.

Interviewed by UNAIR NEWS on Friday, April 26, 2019, Head of Welcoming New Bidikmisi Student (Samba) 2019 Muchlisin stated that Samba is a welcoming event for freshmen who received bidikmisi scholarships, both through the SNMPTN and SBMPTN pathways.

The 2018 Political Science student said, Samba is a series of events with several agendas. The closest agenda, verification of SNMPTN will be held on April 29-30, 2019 and the Samba final event on July 16, 2019. Muchlisin said that the preparation has reached 85 percent.

“For now, we are still not too focused on welcoming new students on July 16. We still have to take care of document verification for Bidikmisi students who were admitted through SNMPTN pathway,” he said.

Muchlisin said, Samba is a place for welcoming and introducing freshmen who receive bidikmisi scholarships to UNAIR. In addition, freshmen are also introduced to the policy of how bidikmisi students should be. That way, academics will develop in accordance with the objectives of Bidikmisi.

Meanwhile, the Minister of Human Resources Development (PSDM) of AUBMO Ismi Choirunnisa said that in Samba there is a welcoming and motivation event held for Bidikmisi freshmen. They are expected to have more spirits when they go to college.

In addition to welcoming and motivating students, student parents were given various directions. Parents will be given information about the rights and obligations of Bidikmisi students during college. Parents of students are also asked to always monitor their children during college.

“Students of Bidikmisi must always pay attention to their achievements, both academically in the form of GPA or non-academically. And, the role of parents is very important, ” she said. (*)
