FKM UNAIR Students and Lecturers Joins Outbound Series in Malaysia

UNAIR NEWS – Faculty of Public Health (FKM UNAIR) has just participated in a series of hospital visit, public lectures and conference in Malaysia on April 7-12. The activity was carried out by students and lecturers of S2 Health Policy Administration (AKK) and Epidemiology FKM UNAIR.

Dr. Djazuly ChalIdyanto S.K.M., M.A.R.S as a lecturer from AKK Department said the aim of the outbound program was none other than to build a wider FKM UNAIR network. Moreover, S2 AKK and Epidemiology students know the real work atmosphere in there.

He continued the first agenda carried out after they arrived in Malaysia was a hospital visit. Hospital visits were carried out in two different hospitals, namely Sunway Hospital in Kuala Lumpur and Johor Perubatan Hospital (KPJ) Hospital in Ampang.

“The topic discussed at Sunway Hospital was Risk Management and Patient Safety meanwhile KPJ Hospital discussed about Hospital Information System,” Dr. Djazuly.

Dzajuly said the two topic implementation in each of these hospitals was extraordinary. For example at KPJ Hospital, it has developed its own hospital information system. Thus, the hospital doesn’t need to bring in third parties in training. Likewise with Sunway Hospital. Dzajuly continued that Risk Management and Patient Safety strategy was qualified.

The next day continued with a public lecture at Kuala Lumpur Malaysia Society for Quality in Health (MSQH) with the topic of accreditation in health facilities. The general lecture were given by academics and practitioners from University of Malaya, UM Medical Center, Practitioners from Hospital in Kuala Lumpur and experts from MSQH.

“This topic is relevant with FKM studies which in line with the goals to achieve international-APHEA accreditation,” added Dr. Dzajuly.

The activity was closed by attending Asia Pacific Academia Consortium for Public Health Conference – Kuala Lumpur (APACPH-KL). It was collaboration of University Malaya, APACH and FKM UNAIR entitled Early Career Global Public Health: Implementation of the Science for Improving Population Health conducted at Faculty of Medicine, University of Malaya.

“The reason for raising this theme to gain knowledge from Public Health experts in developing careers and professions both nationally and internationally.” concluded Dr. Dzajuly. (*)
