Joshua Represents Indonesia through Student Exchange Scholarships to Romania

UNAIR NEWS – Studying abroad is a dream for many students including Joshua Aji Nimpuna, a student of Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Universitas Airlangga. Joshua flew to Romania after receiving a student exchange scholarship “European Region Action Scheme for the Mobility of University Students” or commonly known as Erasmus +.

Joshua who is also known as 2016 FEB Ambassador and 2017 UNAIR Ambassador received a scholarship exchange program after several selection stages. The selection was conducted in May 2018. He flew to Romania on February 22, 2019. Not only to represent UNAIR, he was the only student from Indonesia this year.

“There was an Erasmus + program selection at FEB and I applied, “Joshua said via telephone.

“At that time, I applied to Turkey, praise the Lord, I qualified but the destination country moved to Romania,” he added.

Joshua had the opportunity to study at Universitatea Lucian Blaga in Sibiu with students from European Union countries. The student exchange program in Romania is held from February to June 2019.

For five months in Romania, students from Batu City will gain experience and meet students from European Union countries. As a representative from Indonesia and even Asia, he is very enthusiastic. He said that students in Romania were very welcoming.

His studies in Universitatea Lucian Blaga in Sibiu is related to google class. Joshua also explained that European Credit Transfer and Accumulation System(ECTS) he took could be transferred to semester credit system (SKS) in UNAIR.

“In addition to learning, this program also facilitates students who want to study abroad,” he said.

“I joined this program purely for exchange program for one semester in the same field (management, ed),” he said.

Joshua also relayed an encouragement to every UNAIR student to not feel insecure about studying with foreign students. He explained that Indonesian students were respected abroad.

“Actually, our expertise is not inferior to them (foreign students, ed) as long as we are confident,” he said. “Don’t be afraid to dream. Dreams should be balanced with efforts and prayers, there must be a way to realize them,” he concluded. (*)
