UNAIR NEWS – Student Activity Unit which concerns with Drug Abuse and HIV / AIDS Transmission (UK-Mapanza) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) sent two of its members to 2019 National Anti-Drug Abuse Student Forum (FORNASMAPAN). The 2019 FORNASMAPAN was held for four days from March 28 to March 31, 2019. Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta hosted the annual event.
FORNASMAPAN was organized to strengthen relationship among universities throughout Indonesia as well as to reach the same vision, campus environment and Indonesia which is drug free.
It was conveyed by Muhammad Indra Pangestu as Head of UK-Mapanza and as one of the UNAIR delegates on this occasion. Besides Indra, Iga Rahma Azhari as Deputy of UK-Mapanza also participated in the forum in Jakarta.
Indra explained, there were 50 universities from various regions and islands in Indonesia participating. The delegations, continued Indra, were indeed exclusive for university’s internal organizations engaged in the prevention of drug abuse or other related internal support organizations.
There is a series of events in FORNASMAPAN, such as national seminars, congresses, and field trips. The entire event was held for four days.
The national seminar themed ‘The Role of Students in Counteracting the Dangers of Narcotics to Millennials’ was attended by the TNI General (Ret.) H. Wiranto, SH, as the Coordinating Minister for Politics, Law and Security of the Republic of Indonesia, Prof. Dr. Amany Burhanuddin Lubis, LC., MA., as Rector of UIN Syarif Hidayatullah Jakarta, Dikdik Kusnadi Bc. IP, S. Sos, MM from National Narcotics Agency (BNN) of the Republic of Indonesia, and M. Fariza Y. Irawady, S.E, M.M., the founder of Anti Narcotics Movement National (GANN).
“We met students throughout Indonesia who had their own stories and issues regarding drugs. We share information about how to create an anti-drug culture in our respective regions,” Indra said.
The Head of UK-Mapanza also argued that an event such as FORNASMAPAN must continue to be carried out because Indonesia is in an emergency state because of drugs. Therefore, Indra continued, students must play their role in fighting these problems.
“If Indonesian youth continue to be damaged by drugs, then who will be the successors of this nation? Therefore, we have a vision, campus and Indonesia that is free of drugs, “said Indra.
Regarding these problems, according to Indra, youth must have open mind and insights towards the prevention and drugs’ abuse.
“Hopefully the knowledge that we gain can be shared to UNAIR students. So, they have better understanding that drugs are a big problem in this country, “Indra said.
“Hopefully UNAIR can be a university that is free of drugs,” he concluded. (*)
