FKH Student Wins Best Performance in Asia Youth Cultural Exposure Symposium

UNAIR NEWS – Delegation of Reasoning Club Student Activity Unit (UKM) managed to achieve the Best Performance at Asia Youth Cultural Exposure Symposium (AYCE) held at Malaya University, Malaysia, on March 20-23 2019. It was achievement of Ayu Andira Faulina Wardianingsih, student of Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR).

In the symposium Ayu chose a cultural theme, Reog Ponorogo. In addition, she also performed a dance part of the Reog performance.

The participants of the symposium came from various countries, mainly Southeast Asia such as from Vietnam, Thailand, Indonesia and Malaysia. Before the symposium was conducted, Ayu did research in the Twin Tower areaShe interviewed everyone from various countries to find out how far foreigners knew Indonesia, especially in terms of culture.

“The results of the research is used for the presentation before the delegates. So this is used as the main discussion material for the activities that I follow, ” she said.

The fourth semester student also revealed the reason why she chose the arts of Reog Ponorogo as a topic of the activity.

“This is to promote the culture of Reog, which has been claimed by Malaysia,” she said.

Ayu’s motivation to compete in the 2019 Asia Youth Cultural Exposure was her target to attend any international event every year. In addition, the university also supported her through UKM.

“Everything starts from the target. Every year I always have a target that I have to achieve. And this year I have a target to take part in an international event. Starting from a dream with prayers from parents, Alhamdulillah this year qualified for the AYCE 2019 event in Kuala Lumpur, ” she added.

In the end of the interview, the student who is now Head of Coaching Division of Pimisma UKM of Reasoning did not hesitate to share experiences while participating in activities in UKM.

“When I joined UKM, I learned how to get lots of relationships, be active in every activity, and stay active in lecture activities, as if it teaches me multitasking,  Ayu said. (*)
