Representing UNAIR for the First Time, Ahdi Wins Ju-Jitsu as First Place Winner

UNAIR NEWS – M. Ahdi Kurniawan, Faculty of Veterinary Medicine (FKH) student of Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) managed to bring achievement at Ju-Jitsu competition in national scale students. The competition was organized by Universitas Veteran Bangun Nusantara (Bantara Univet) Sukoharjo, Central Java.

This match was held on March 23 – 24 2019 at Banatara Auditorium Univet Sukoharjo.

The student familiarly called Ahdi became one of Universitas Airlangga representatives at national level event. Ahdi admitted, it was his first time joining competition. He carried UNAIR name and won as 1st place of Men ‘s Regular Fighting System – 50kg Division.

“The motivation to take part in the competition were to get achievements and introduce UNAIR’s name in the field of sports, continue the tradition in taking part on championship and come home with results.” he said.

In addition, he faced struggle during this competition. According to him, referees are less competent in assessing. There were several kicks, punches, slamming, which Ahdi feels has already entered points but for the referee, it was not invaluable. Moreover, Ahdi felt that his opponents from the other region: Ponorogo, Klaten, and Surabaya areas were quite challenging.

Even so, he said that his achievement could not be separated from preparation. Before competing, Ahdi trained more intensely with other UKM Ju-Jitsu member.

“Usually a month before the match, my friends do regular exercises every day. Technical preparation in matches that have been chosen according to their class. Physical preparation, “said Ahdi.

Tips and tricks from Ahdi are simply choose one sport you that you like and focused on that. From childhood to junior high school, Ahdi had studied and wanted to excel in Ju-Jitsu.

“You need to choose one and keep practice on your sport that you like. One day, I believe you can achieve something big “he added.

In addition, another colleague who won first place included M. Faqihufiddin: Place Men’s Regular Fighting System-70kg Division and Rohmawati: Place Women’s Regular Fighting System-55kg Division. (*)
