FPK Delegation Holds Meeting with 11 Universities at APAIE Kuala Lumpur

UNAIR NEWS – The education exhibition was a great opportunity for university to expand its network. Especially for prestigious international scale exhibition, the event were attended by delegates from universities across the world.

For this reason, as many as 10 delegates from Universitas Airlangga attended Asia-Pacific Association educational exhibition and exhibition (APAIE) 2019. The largest education exhibition in Asia-Pacific took place at Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, Malaysia, on Tuesday-Thursday, March 26 -28 2019).

The event was attended by no less than 1,500 delegates from hundreds of universities across the world, mainly Asia-Pacific region.

Faculty ambassador Muhammad of UNAIR Faculty of Fisheries and Marine (FPK), Nur Ghoyatul Amin, M.Si said that he had held strategic meetings with 11 international universities. Among others, University Putra Malaysia, Universiti Malaysia Sabah, University of Malaysia Sarawak, James Cook University, Deakin University, University of Bologna, National University of Ireland, National Pingtung University of Science and Technology, Akdeniz University, Fisheries Science Consortium Agreenum, France, Nagasaki University.

In addition, Ghoyatul said the university that he visited was active under ASEAN Fisheries Education Network, a consortium forum that focused on research and studies in the field of aquaculture and fisheries in Southeast Asian region.

“We had an MoU under the consortium,” said the lecturer of Fisheries Technology.

Conducting a strategic meeting with delegates from 11 campuses, there were several things discussed, such as students and staff mobility also joint research.

“In the near future, we will also collaborates with universities in Australia and New Zealand,” added Ghoyatul. The three colleges are University of Waikato, James Cook University, and Deakin University in Australia.

In a strategic meeting with representatives from Agreenum Fisheries Science Education Consortium, France, both of them held discussion about the potential for funding resources for visiting scholar activities from France.

“They gave us potential funding information for collaboration activities in France from CIRAD and Indonesian Institute of Français, “he added.

So far the most popular programs in Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Affairs were short course and international internship program. Short course program introduces fisheries methods in Indonesia and fisheries-based food management.

Meanwhile, for international internship program students are invited to do study research in laboratory and conduct survey in the field.

After the strategic meeting, continued Ghoyatul, the follow-up was to send a request letter and term of reference to universities that would accept FPK students to study there. As well as, universities that will become partners in the future.

“Hopefully this program can be implemented by faculties and universities,” he said. (*)
