UNAIR NEWS – After having a collaboration with dozens of international partners, the moment of international educational exhibitions was used well by Faculty of Science and Technology to expand networking. For this reason, FST UNAIR ambassadors participate in Asia-Pacific Association for International Education (APAIE) Conference and Exhibition 2019, which takes place at Kuala Lumpur Convention Center, Malaysia, Tuesday-Thursday, March 26-28, 2019.
In the largest education exhibition in Asia-Pacific, faculty ambassador of FST UNAIR Dr. Nurina Fitriani., S.T. managed to hold meetings with 10 foreign universities for potential collaboration.
The ten universities were Daffodil International University, National Cheng Kung University, National Taiwan University, Chulalongkorn University, Universiti Sains Islam Malaysia, Universiti Putra Malaysia, King Mongkut’s University of Technology Thonburi, Universiti Tun Hussein Onn Malaysia, Universiti Teknologi Malaysia, and Kasetsart University.
“We discussed about cooperation, both on student and staff exchange. Furthermore, the development of collaboration will be carried out by joint research and joint publications,” Nurina said after the exhibition on Thursday afternoon, March 28, 2019.
In the strategic meeting, one of the highlights was an offer from Canadian government to work with three faculties in UNAIR, including Faculty of Fisheries and Marine, Faculty of Nursing and Faculty of Science and Technology.
Nurina said that until 2019, FST UNAIR had collaborated with at least 30 universities from various countries. The collaboration is in the form of joint research and publications, adjunct professors, visiting fellows, and student exchanges. Most of the universities come from regions in Southeast Asia, such as Malaysia, Thailand and Myanmar.
One of the interesting FST international programs is the short course program which lasts for two weeks. The program is in form of international outreach program in collaboration with BEM FST.
“We invited 20 foreign students to join the program (short course, ed). This year we will invite students from Mara Technology University, Malaysia,” Nurina said.
Through participation in this APAIE, Nurina hopes that the delegates can expand FST UNAIR network with more international partners, at the department, faculty and university levels.
“Increasing the number of academic peer lists, reactivating MoA and MoU that we have done. Because there are many MoUs that are ‘sleeping‘ MoUs, “said Nurina.
Nurina also hoped that after APAIE activities, there will be a follow up immediately between the two parties. It can be started by sending students for inbound and outbound programs.
In the largest educational exhibition in Asia-Pacific, UNAIR opened a booth with hundreds of universities in the world. They are from Malaysia, Australia, Singapore, Korea, Taiwan, Hungary, Poland, New Zealand, Switzerland, Spain, Hong Kong, Thailand, Japan, France, Germany, India, Turkey and the Netherlands. (*)
