Twelve Delegates Attend Conference in France to Improve UNAIR Academic Reputation

UNAIR NEWS – To improve academic reputation towards World Class University, a 12 delegates from Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) attended a conference held in Paris, France. The prestigious international conference was titled ‘The Rise of Asia Conference Series’.

The conference was held on March 13-15, 2019 at Le Havre University, Paris, France. The conference was a forum for academics to meet, discuss, share ideas, expand network, and publish various contemporary issues of the world. For this reason, this conference is called The Rise of Asia.

UNAIR officially sent 12 delegates consisting of deans and lecturers from three faculties, Faculty of Humanities (FIB) with four delegates; Faculty of Social and Political Sciences (FISIP) with 3 delegates; and Faculty of Law (FH) with 5 delegates. These delegates are members of the Steering Committee (SC).

One of the delegates was Adrian Perkasa S.Hub.Int., S.Hum., MA, lecturer in FIB UNAIR History. Regarding the conference, Adrian said that there was another point of view historically.

“So this conference, especially from a historical point of view, is the time for us to see world history not as a single narrative, especially regarding globalization,” said Adrian.

Adrian said that one of the leading global historians, Samir Amin, was a figure from the humanity, history and philosophy disciplines, who played a crucial role in the rise of Asia.

Aside from being forum to expand network for academics, this conference had an impact to improve academic reputation of UNAIR. This Academic reputation is one of the major aspects in the assessment of World Class University by Quacquarelli Sysmonds (QS).

“Furthermore, staff and student outbound and inbound are also intensified. Possibility of our students (UNAIR, ed) to continue at the university is also bigger, “said Adrian.

Meanwhile, Dean of FIB UNAIR, Ariani Arimbi, S.S., M.A., Ph.D., who also participated in the conference said that this conference was a continuation of the same program in 2018. Not only attended the conference, Diah also delivers speech on feminism.

“This conference is the third series after an event in 2018 as the opening event,” Diah said. “UNAIR Vice Rector III also gave us a mandate (12 UNAIR delegates, ed) to promote the university to the international scene,” she added. (*)
