Japanese College of Nursing Explores Collaboration with FKp UNAIR by Visiting Mulyorejo Health Center

UNAIR NEWS – Faculty of Nursing (FKp) of Universitas Airlangga is one of the faculties with Asean University Network (AUN) Quality Assurance (QA) accreditation. Japanese Red Cross of Kyushu International College of Nursing (JRCKICN) through a program, collaborated with Faculty of Nursing (FKp) UNAIR from February 25 to March 9, 2019.

Prof. Ogawa and Moori as representatives of JRCKICN had the opportunity to visit Mulyorejo Health Center on Feb. 27, 2019 accompanied by Dr. Feby (Mulyorejo Community Health Center Staff) and Sylvia Dwi (UNAIR Nursing Faculty Lecturer) (02/27/2019). They got an explanation on routine activities of toddler integrated service post (Posyandu) at Puskesmas, such as educational forums, toddlers’ body weight monitoring, immunization, and additional nutrition provision.

“The people there (in Japan, ed.) are not very aware of child vaccination, it is very different from Indonesia which requires vaccination regularly and monitors it through vaccination book,” Moori said.

“I am very happy to know that the people here (Surabaya, ed.) are very friendly, neighbors can get in close contact, and grandma can be a substitute for mother to take the toddlers to Posyandu,” said Prof. Ogawa.

Students and lecturers from Japanese Red Cross of Kyushu International College of Nursing (JRCKIN) were very enthusiastic and they wanted to know more about the vaccination book. The visit in Mulyorejo Health Center was ended and closed at 12.00 WIB. (*)
