Attending Medical Specialist Inauguration, Mahfud MD Hopes UNAIR Prepare Graduates to Face Digital Era

UNAIR NEWS – Prof. Moh Mahfud MD attended medical specialists inauguration at Faculty of Medicine (FK) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) on Wednesday, March 13, 2019. His arrival this time was to witness his son-in-law who graduated in orthopedic specialist programs and traumatology.

“Thank God, I was able to attend the inauguration. My son-in-law today was appointed as an orthopedic specialist doctor.” explained Mahfud, who currently serves as a member of Pancasila Ideology Development Board (BPIP).

Mahfud added, currently his daughter is studying in FK UNAIR for a medical rehabilitation specialist. He hopes that both of them can graduate and bring contribution to the development of this country.

On that occasion, Mahfud said that as one of the best and oldest universities, UNAIR has contributed greatly to the development of Indonesia’s progress, especially in health sector. For this reason, he hopes that in the future, UNAIR will appoited doctors who are able to adapt to various changes.

“I hope UNAIR’s reputation as one of the best universities in Indonesia, whose contribution has been great for the progress of the nation, will be even greater. Especially, facing the future and adapting in disruption era, digital era, and maintaining our ideology as a united, sovereign, fair and wealthy nation.” he added.

In the inauguration, Dean of Faculty of Medicine UNAIR, Prof. Dr. Soetojo dr., Sp. U(K) appointed 75 new medical specialist. There were 64 medical specialist I and 11 medical specialist II. Since 2002, FK UNAIR has graduated 3,645 specialist doctors.

The inauguration of medical specialist were attended by Director of Soetomo Hospital, Director of UNAIR Hospital, Chair of the Board of Trustees (MWA), Alumni Chairperson, Head of East Java Health Office, representatives of Surabaya Health Office, professors and Head of specialist study programs.

Meanwhile, UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih, SE., MT., Ak., CMA., said that after they graduated, medical specialist should at least hold two important things. Which, working professionally in the community, as well contribute to the nation.

On that occasion he also reminded medical specialist to be careful of malpractices.

“If there is a malpractice, we could revoke their certificate. Thus, we want all graduates to work professionally.” said the Rector. (*)
