UNAIR NEWS – Improving public services, PSDKU Student Family of Universitas Airlangga in Banyuwangi strives to increase public service for academics in each of its work programs.
One of the work program that directly leads to public services, ELPT Class Airlangga (ECA). The work program carried out by Department of Scientific KM focused on serving UNAIR PSDKU students in Banyuwangi, especially for English language training for ELPT test.
Diah Susi Kusumawati, head of Department of Scientific KM explained, ECA is low-priced English language training. The training conducted specifically for PSDKU UNAIR students in Banyuwangi.
“ECA was made because student in PDSKU had a hard time in learning English, the difficulty in finding a low-priced training institutions and also uncertain certificates from outside institutions that UNAIR does not necessarily accept,” he explained.
Although included in new work program, ECA received high enthusiasm from the students. There were 100 students joined ECA, which previously were only given 80 quota of participants. The inaugural meeting on Sunday, March 10 at Giri campus, there was a pre-test to find out participants English language skills.
In the future, a total of 9 meetings will be held in the weekend. Technically, English language training (ELPT) will be held for 8 meetings and one in the end of the meeting, the ELPT test will be held in UNAIR Language Center for free.
“In the beginning of ECA meeting, we have a registration fee of Rp. 20,000, then every meeting we hold cash of Rp. 10,000 for printing costs and for ELPT test in the end of meeting. Thus, participants do not need to pay for ELPT test.” added the student of Faculty of Fisheries and Marine Affairs.
ECA instructors are people who are used to teaching TOEFL from LP3I English lecturers, as well instructors from one of well-known tutoring institution.
With ECA English languange training, Diah Susi as the person in charge hoped that the work program would be able to help UNAIR PSDKU students in Banyuwangi for ELPT test.
“Hopefully with ECA, there will be no more obstacles for ELPT. Hopefully, student’s ELPT score reaches over 450. Moreover, I hope that ECA participants can participate in these activities as scheduled, so that the goal can be achieved.” she concluded. (*)
