UNAIR NEWS – Friday, February 15, 2019, Semi-Autonomous Body (BSO) of  Asian Law Students’ Association (ALSA) LC UNAIR sent delegation to 22nd Supreme Court’s Moot Court in Purwokerto, Central Java. This competition is a prestigious event for law school students throughout Indonesia.

The event is prestigious considering the large number of universities in various parts of Indonesia who participated in this competition, such as Gajah Mada University, Diponegoro University, Padjajaran University, Hasanuddin University, Syiah Kuala University, and other prominent universities. In total there were 14 delegates and 2 observer teams.

This competition lasts for four days, starting from February 15, 2019 to February 18, 2019. Besides having to face tough opponents from various regions in Indonesia, they had to make a lot of preparations. Starting from the file with the court, preparing the role, preparing the material, and other things.

Rizky Setiawan as the head of the delegation from UNAIR said that they need 5 months to prepare for this moot court competition.

“This moot court competition is a competition that presents trial simulations like a real trial, so the preparation must be done well. We are required to act like judges, prosecutors and real advocates, “Rizky said.

In this competition 14 delegates were divided into 4 chambers , namely chamber A, B, C, and D. UNAIR delegation was in chamber B with Tarumanegara University, Jember University, and Padjajaran University. Despite being 200 points ahead of the other two teams, UNAIR delegation has not been able to qualify for the next round because it is 70 points left from University of Jember.

In 22nd Supreme Court competition, Gajah Mada University won 1st place, while Diponegoro University won 2nd place, and University of Jember won 3rd place. Although the delegation from UNAIR was unable to bring victory home, delegates were satisfied because they had presented the best.

“There must be sadness, but we are proud to have tried our best for the alma mater. Hopefully UNAIR delegation for 23rd Supreme Court Competition will be able to bring home Grand Makhamah Cup to the Land of Airlangga,” said Alya Anindita, one of the delegates.

The nineteen delegates from UNAIR were Adelia Putri Marina (2017), Agatha Geraldine (2017), Ajeng Nur Fadila (2017), Alya Anindita (2016), Alya Anira (2016), Aqiqoh Farhah Maulani (2017), Arfie ranchman Widiatama (2017), Aushofi (2017), Eka Putri Fadhila (2017).
