UNAIR Holds Workshop to Boost Double / Joint Degree Programs in All Faculties

UNAIR NEWS – In order to achieve Top 500 World Class University in 2020, Directorate of Academic Affairs Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR) held a Double Degree / Joint Degree Program Workshop on Saturday, Feb 16 at Santika Premiere Gubeng Hotel. The event was attended by Vice Dean I of all faculties and Program Coordinators (KPS) who will hold a Double degree / Joint Degree programs in UNAIR.

The workshop discussed policies related to the double degree / joint degree cooperation program, policies and programs of Directorate General of Learning and Student Affairs in the implementation and development of international cooperation in universities, double degree / joint degree programs as a strategy towards the Top 500 World Class University in 2020, preparation of MoU and MoA contracts, and other things related to it.

The opening was carried out by UNAIR Director of Academic Affairs Prof. Dr. Bambang Sektiari Lukiswanto DEA, drh. He said that recognition is not possible if it is not balanced with the quality of output  and outcomes standards  Prof. Bambang explained that even though UNAIR had not been able to compete with campuses in the western region, for example UI and ITB. However, UNAIR has a strong determination to improve the quality of Indonesian education as well as contributing to the name of Indonesia on international scene.

“Indonesia is a great nation, if you want to go all out , we must join hands to explore what you want to achieve,” said Prof. Dr. Bambang Sektiari.

He also said that it was undeniable that there were several obstacles related to the implementation of the double degree / joint degree programs, such as funding, English language skills of students, and academic performance. Therefore Prof. Dr. Bambang Sektiari emphasized that everything must be prepared from now on.

Prof. Dr. Ni Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih, Msi as Executive Director of Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE) also explained that the double degree / joint degree program is important as a trigger for international faculty. It is also beneficial for students, as students can have the experience taught by foreign lecturers.

“Here, AGE has the role to arrange double degree / joint degree contract through establishing MoA and MoU contracts,” continued Prof. Dr. Ni Nyoman.

In the end, she hoped that the workshop carried out will benefit us all. (*)
