Prameswara, Traditional Dance Community from FIB UNAIR

UNAIR NEWS – Adinda Pramesti Cahyani, English Literature Student from Faculty of Humanities, Universitas Airlangga shared information with UNAIR NEWS regarding to this dance community organized by FIB. She said since December 15, 2015 a traditional dance community was established under the name of Prameswara.

The formation background of this community is because initially there was a desire of students to perform colossal dances on FIB’s birthday event. After successfully performing the dance, there were many students who were curious and wanted to learn about traditional dance.

“Since then, there was an idea of ​​continuing in learning traditional dance then Prameswara traditional dance community was formed,” she said.

Furthermore, Adinda said that Prameswara is a community that is a forum for UNAIR students who want to learn Indonesian culture especially in the field of traditional dance.

“We accept students who dont have any experience in dancing at all, they are also welcome to join, the important thing is that they have a strong intention and passion to learn traditional dance,” Adinda said.

Meanwhile, Yusriawati, an English Literature student said that Prameswara had performed at Cultural Festival (Fesbud), Ngangsu Candra Kidung (NCK) Pakarsajen, BEM UNAIR Women Hero, and NLSC BEM FH UNAIR.

“We regularly perform at Fesbud and NCK, and we have also been invited to BEM UNAIR Women’s Hero on October 27, 2018 and NLSC BEM FH on November 2, 2018 as the opening ceremony.” said the student from Sidoarjo.

Furthermore, Yusriawati said that Prameswara also performed her skill outside campus activities, such as being a wedding attendant, and guest for opening dance in several party event.

Finally, East Java dance community hopes that UNAIR student will become aware of Indonesian traditional culture and have an interest in preserving its culture.

“And we as a community will continue to run as a forum for all UNAIR academics who want to participate in preserving cultural dance in here,” concluded Yusriawati in the end of interview.
