UNAIR Welcomes New International Students

UNAIR NEWS – Entering 2018/2019 academic year, Universitas Airlangga welcomed the arrival of international students with Welcoming International Students Reception. This activity is annual agenda for welcoming foreign students in UNAIR.

On this year, the activity was held on Thursday February, 07 2019 at UNAIR Management Office. There were 50 international students who participated in the event. Moreover, several students did not hesitate to sing along with Universitas Airlangga Choir team (PSUA) to enliven the event.

The participant comes from various countries: Germany, Netherlands, Malaysia, Philippines, and several countries in African Continent. They are from various programs: AMERTA program, ADS (Airlangga Development Scholarship), and student exchanges.

In addition, there were Vice Rector I Prof. Djoko Santoso, dr., Sp. PD-KGH., Ph.D., FINASIM, representatives from Vice Dean III of Faculty and Airlangga Global Engagement staff attended the event. In his speech, Prof. Djoko Santoso advised new international students to explore and experience their education more while they are in UNAIR. Because, UNAIR give a big opportunity for them to participate in academic and non-academic activities.

“I hope all of you can get along with us especially Indonesians and learn about our culture. Hopefully, you can also implement UNAIR motto (Excellent with Morality) in real life” said Djoko.

One of foreign students named Laura Ungricht from Netherlands admitted that she was interested in participating several activities in UNAIR. She can’t wait to study and find new friends in here.

“The first time I arrived at UNAIR, people in here were friendly. I’m happy being in here, “Laura said.

Not only welcoming activity, Airlangga Global Engagement also held an orientation for international students on February 7, 2019. In the event, foreign students were briefed by AGE staff regarding on tips about staying in Indonesia and several terms of study in UNAIR.

AGE will also help and facilitate international students if they get some problems in the future like extending visa or even getting sick and many more. (*)
