Rector Inaugurates 682 Postgraduate Students for Even Semester 2018/2019 Academic Year

UNAIR NEWS – The inauguration process is an important moment for students of Universitas Airlangga. It is the one of the first steps for new students to start their studies at university. At Garuda Mukti Hall Campus C UNAIR on Thursday, Feb. 7, UNAIR Rector Prof. Nasih inaugurated 682 postgraduate students.

In presence of leaders and students, UNAIR Rector, Prof. Nasih in his speech congratulated all new postgraduate students and reminded them to be grateful. Prof. Nasih also emphasized that in this political campaign season, students were encouraged not to use alma mater jackets for political campaign.

“Don’t use the new alma mater jacket for political campaign because UNAIR is a higher education institution that must be neutral in politics, “he said.

The value of Excellence with Morality must be a guideline for students’ life. For Prof. Nasih, UNAIR students should not only be intelligent but they must also have manner that reflects morals and ethics.

Furthermore, he continued, UNAIR is also committed to contribute in many ways to improve welfare and build world civilization.

“Therefore, all new students must support this joint commitment,” he explained.

Regarding the future graduate prospects, Prof. Nasih explained that qualified graduates are graduates who can adapt to the development of their times and can respond to the demands of times. Not only today, but years to come.

Besides mastering the various knowledge given by the lecturer and gained during studies at UNAIR, according to Prof. Nasih, students must also have more knowledge and skills.

“For example, accounting masters’ students should not only have the ability in accounting, but they must have the critical power to further develop knowledge in solving dynamic problems,” said Prof. Nasih.

The Professor of FEB UNAIR also emphasized that the most important of the process of seeking knowledge in UNAIR is being able to solve scientific problems, being able to work in teams, and being able to communicate both orally and written.

“This is what we sharpen later during your studies at UNAIR. These abilities will later be measured in completing the final task. Both thesis and dissertation. For this reason, be prepared to hone your ability to become a part of UNAIR in becoming a pioneer that gives a real contribution to the civilization of the nation and the world, ” he concluded.

On this occasion, UNAIR Rector also presented various scholarships. There are Universitas Airlangga  Achievement Scholarships, Airlangga Development Scholarship, Developing Country Partnership Scholarships, and LPDP Scholarships. Out of 188 international students, there are 60 students who receive ADS scholarships.
