Postgraduate Students Must Be Able To Follow Changes in Industrial Revolution 4.0

UNAIR NEWS – “Postgraduate Program Education at Universitas Airlangga Towards 500 World Class University and Welcoming Industrial Revolution 4.0″ was the title of the oration delivered by Director of Academic Affairs at Universitas Airlangga Prof. Dr. Bambang Sektiari Lukiswanto, DEA, DVM. The oration was delivered during the inauguration ceremony of Postgraduate Students Program held on Thursday, Feb. 7.

At Garuda Mukti Hall, Campus C UNAIR Hall, in front of the leaders and hundreds of post-graduate students attending, Prof. Bambang said that UNAIR’s mission to be among Top 500 World University based on QS version in 2020 was a mandate from Ministry of Research and Higher Education.

“And from the latest data obtained in 2018, UNAIR’s position is in the 751-800 world rank,” he said.

After opening the speech by stating UNAIR’s position in QS WUR, Prof. Bambang then reviewed the dynamics of industrial revolution 4.0. At first, the development of the industrial revolution was very slow. But as time goes on, the changes are happening faster.

“For this reason, if this rapid change is not followed with readiness in many ways and from various sectors, it can be ascertained that it will bring new problems,” he explained.

The FKH UNAIR’s professor also talked about various prospective graduates. According to him, UNAIR graduates must be able to reflect the motto of UNAIR , Excellence with Morality. It can be seen from the students’ who are creative, innovative, adaptive, initiative, inspiring, and humble. Not only that, Prof. Bambang also reviewed the excellent academic achievement determined by many things.

“Such as improving the quality of input student and accelerating the exposure and experience of students in research,” he added.

In the end, Prof. Bambang mentioned the urgency of integration between soft skills in learning because, soft skills are determining of the quality of graduates. According to him, UNAIR students have identity, leadership, teamwork, communication skills, and self-confidence. “This is not only applied to postgraduate students, but we have applied it to bachelor’s degree students,” he concluded.
