Airlangga Knight Team Ready to Help Sunda Strait Tsunami Victims Recovery

UNAIR NEWS – The tsunami has taken many lives around Sunda Strait on the end of last year and now is entering the recovery phase. However, support from people is still needed due to accelerate the post-disaster recovery process.

For this reason, dozens of students from Universitas Airlangga consists of Mahagana, BEM, and several voluntary students were ready to help the recovery process of Sunda Strait tsunami victim. Before going to the location, dozens of teams were released directly by Rector UNAIR Prof. Nasih along with other UNAIR leaders on Monday, 14 January.

In his remarks, Prof. Nasih said that during the activities, the dedication spirit must be optimized. In addition, the entire team was also encouraged to stick to the alma mater’s good reputation during their service.

“Be good while you are in there. Don’t be disrespectful during your activities in there,” he explained. “Good luck on carrying out the task for humanity and nation,” added Prof. Nasih.

Meanwhile, Wahyu Setia Putro as the team leader, on the same occasion said that with 27 other people had prepared for two weeks. Regarding the program, he and the team focused on trauma healing for children who affected by the tsunami.

“For the service that will be carried out we will focused on doing activities in Sabesi Island,” he explained.

The student who is familiarly called Wahyu said that in the future, they are expected to build assisted village that receive a continuous community service from UNAIR students.

“Definitely with this activity it can ease their burden. Besides that, hopefully in the future we can develop assisted villages, “he concluded
