UNAIR NEWS – In order to maintain friendship, Universitas Airlangga Student Executive Board visited PSDKU UNAIR in Banyuwangi. This visit was the second time since the first one in mid-2018.

Head of BEM UNAIR Galuh Teja Sakti explained that even though it was during semester holiday, BEM UNAIR still visited UNAIR Banyuwangi. It was done to fulfill their promise at the beginning that they will visit PSDKU twice a year.

“We asked an apology in advance as we could only be able to visit during the holidays, because in Surabaya we are caught up with lectures and organization activities,” he said.

In addition to visiting or strengthening ties with student organizations (ormawa) in UNAIR Banyuwangi, the second visit of BEM UNAIR in the end of 2018 also aims to monitor all student activities in UNAIR Banyuwangi, both those which have been implemented and those that will be implemented.

“So, I suggested a discussion on grand design of each student organization. Since all student organizations were just established, therefore BEM UNAIR will provide input if needed to build their stewardship in the next year,” said Teja.

“UNAIR students are no longer just Agent of Change but we are leaders of change ,” stated Teja.

Meanwhile, Melan Argarini, Deputy of 2019 PSDKU UNAIR Banyuwangi Student Family, said that KM was at first did not expect the second visit of BEM UNAIR as it was made during the holiday period, because there would be a small number of people present from the representatives.

“At first we did not expect the attendees to be these many. But Mas Teja himself still wanted to visit. Finally we grant their wish. Because if you think about it, the majority of UNAIR Banyuwangi students are Banyuwangi natives, so we are not too worried, “he said.

BEM UNAIR visit on Sobo campus of PSDKU UNAIR Banyuwangi was held to exchange ideas between BEM UNAIR and students in UNAIR Banyuwangi, such as KM, HIMA (student association), BSO (semi-autonomous body), and communities of interest and talent.

The deputy of KM also explained that students in UNAIR Banyuwangi could learn and imitate BEM UNAIR, such as from their strong internal management relations, communication with internal and external parties, and student organizations and also leaderships.

“Because BEM UNAIR has more experience, we from UNAIR Banyuwangi feel it is appropriate to learn from them. They also advised that the benchmark for the success of an organization is in the work program felt by campus community,” Melan explained.

Head of BEM UNAIR also advised that the relationship between BEM UNAIR and the academics of PSDKU UNAIR Banyuwangi should be well maintained, and student organizations are expected to monitor the activities in order to prevent radicalism, intolerance and so on. (*)
