UNAIR and Asia University Establish Collaboration on Double Degree Program

UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga signed a document on a double degree partnership program with Asia University (AU) on Wednesday, December 19. The signing of the Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was conducted by each representative from both universities at Asia University.

The collaboration between UNAIR and AU has started with the signing session of the MoA between 10 researchers from each university, the opening of Center for Indonesian Studies Universitas Airlangga in Asia University and the Taiwan Education Center in Universitas Airlangga, and it has developed into the newly signed MOA on Double Degree program.

The signing of the MoA is a joint commitment from an agreement meeting on November 10, 2018 between Universitas Airlangga and Asia University led by Vice Rector I, Prof. Djoko Santoso with Prof. Chen as the representative of Asia University.

Delegation from UNAIR, Dian Ekowati Ph.D, Secretary of Executive Director of Airlangga Global Engagement; Prof. Dr. Retna Apsari, M.Si Vice Dean I of Vocational Studies; Diah Ariani Arimbi, Ph.D, Dean of Faculty of Humanities; and Prof. Dr. Sri Iswati, SE., M.Si., Ak, Director of Postgraduate School Universitas Airlangga.

This double degree MoA involves eight programs at UNAIR, Master of Linguistics, Master of Biomedical Engineering, Master of Islamic Economics, Three year (D3) Diploma English, D3 Tourism, D3 Hospitality Management, D3 Banking Management, and D3 Accounting.

In UNAIR, the eight programs involved Faculty of Humanities, Faculty of Vocational Studies, and  Postgraduate school.

“This MoA is specifically signed for a double degree collaboration. So when students are graduated, they will get a diploma from 2 institutions, “explained Dr. Dian.

Before the MoA was signed, on Monday, December 17, four UNAIR delegates gave guest lectures according to their fields of science. Dr. Dian gave a guest lecture at the Department of Psychology and Business Administration, Prof. Iswati gave lecture in the department of Accounting and Information Systems, and Prof. Retna in the Bioinformatics and Medical Engineering Department, and Dr. Diah in the foreign language and literature department.

Head of Department of Psychology, Asia University Prof. Mein-Woei Suen said that in recent years there have been several priorities of international collaborations developed by Asia University, such as in in terms of research, double degree program, student exchanges, and produce professors and doctors.

According to Prof. Ni Nyoman Tri Puspaningsih, Executive Director of AGE, collaboration with Asia University through the establishment of double degree program, research collaboration and the existence of UNAIR’s Center for Indonesian Studies at Asia University will improve the achievements of international faculty in Universitas Airlangga. (*)
