UNAIR NEWS – Badan Amil Zakat Nasional (Baznas) conducted evaluation training for zakat acceptance 2018 on Sunday, 16 December. The event which took place at Ruang Kahuripan 305, Management Office UNAIR was attended by three state universities in Surabaya. Among them Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), Universitas Islam Negeri Surabaya (UINSA), and Universitas Negeri Surabaya (UNESA). In total, there were 37 students who attended in this training, 25 students from UNAIR, 6 students from UINSA, and 6 students from UNESA.
This year was Baznas first year in carrying out their program (Beasiswa Cendekia Baznas), which has been stated by Head of Baznas on 21 February, 2018. There were 89 universities in Indonesia who received the scholarship.
The event was opened with remarks from Agus Widiantoro, S.H., M.H, as representatives of UNAIR’s Directorate of Student Affairs. In his remarks, Agus expressed his gratitude to Baznas for allocating part of the funds to provide educational assistance in the form of scholarships. Agus also added, students who received Baznas scholarships had their own challenges to contribute achievement for university.
“Now, your challenge is contributing achievement for university because this scholarship are from public funds that must be managed and utilized well. Therefore, show us that you can be the best,” he said.
After delivering the speech and giving token of appreciation, the event continued with presentation by representatives of Baznas Scholarship Institute. The first material was delivered by Muhammad Fadil, he gave Baznas institution introduction to all of the participants. In his presentation regarding the duties and functions of the Baznas institution, Fadil also touched on the importance of zakat for people’s lives.
Unlike the first material which discussed a lot about the issue of zakat, the second material was about Painting the Future. In the material presented by Ninik Wulandari, S.Psi., The emphasis was more on future planning after campus life. Such as career planning, the world of work / opportunities, action plans, to determine the target after graduation.
During the training class participants are also required to be active in discussion activities and other interactive activities. In the future, this kind of coaching activity will be routinely carried out. This is an effort to monitor and evaluate students receiving Baznas Scholar scholarships.
