UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga continues to establish international collaboration and cooperation with the best universities, as well as governments in in Asia, Europe, Middle East, and Australia. One of them was between UNAIR with East Java government and Western Australia in early December 2018.

In order to realize the implementation of Sister State cooperation between the Governments of Western Australia and East Java Province, Delegation of Universitas Airlangga and East Java Province held a strategic meeting with the Western Australian Government on Monday, December 10 2018. The agreed cooperation was titled Western Australia East Java Universities Consortium (WAEJUC).

The partnership involves 10 PTNs (state universities) in East Java with 5 universities in Western Australia. The universities from Western Australia are University of Western Australia, Murdoch University, Edith Cowan University, Curtin University, and Notredame University.

The meeting held in Perth was opened by Executive Director of JTSI Department ( Jobs, Tourism, Science & Innovation ), General Administrative Assistant of East Java Provincial Secretariat, and Republic of Indonesia Consulate General in Perth, Australia. Meanwhile, Universitas Airlangga attended the meeting as a co-chair representing 10 PTNs in East Java. UNAIR Rector Prof. Dr. Mohammad Nasih SE., MT, Ak., CMA., was present at the meeting.

Regarding the meeting, Prof. Nasih said that Universitas Airlangga’s participation in the strategic meeting was focused on collaboration in the field of research, human resource development, and social welfare. The discussion about the development of human resources (HR) related to higher education was also conveyed by the Rector of Universitas Airlangga.

“Universitas Airlangga continues to encourage collaborative efforts and partnerships with all parties to develop human resources through the provision of good higher education especially with the development of research field, “he said.

There was also a discussion on inclusive education delivered by the head of the Global Network and Communication Division, Airlangga Global Engagement. Meanwhile, a discussion on social welfare focused on renewing contracts between the Autism Association of Western Australia and several parties from the City of Surabaya including Universitas Airlangga in 2019.

Such efforts will continue to be made by UNAIR. Considering that UNAIR is a world class university that aims Top 500 world class university rankings in 2020. In addition, UNAIR is also one of Indonesia’s best universities mandated to realize the quality of education that is equal and competitive at global stage. (*)
