UNAIR NEWS – Before going to the community, 146 regional administrators attended the sending off ceremony of 2018 Bidikmisi Goes to School participants. It was held in Student Center Hall, participants will be placed in five regions, namely East Java, Central Java, West Java, Madura- Bali, and outside Java.

Held on Friday, November 30, the event was attended by Vice Rector I Universitas Airlangga Prof. Djoko Santoso, dr., Ph.D., Sp.PD., K-GH., FINASIM; Director of Student Affairs Dr. M. Hadi Shubhan., S.H, M.H, CN; Head of UNAIR Student Executive Board (BEM) Galuh Teja Sakti; and Muhammad Nur Rouf as Head of Airlangga University Bidikmisi Organization (AUBMO).

On this occasion, Prof. Djoko advised the participants to always feel enthusiastic in carrying out their duties and did not forget to pray. Prof. Djoko also sent his regards to the families of participants and students in the area.

“Helping out is not merely done by giving money, but it can be with what we have,” he added.

In line with this, Dr. Hadi said that the purpose of the activity was for students to become “ambassador” for UNAIR to the community, especially to provide access to education information for people in remote areas. The goal is to make the community aware of Bidikmisi scholarship. UNAIR as the largest university in eastern Indonesia feels the need to share the spirit of going to higher education.

“Besides being proud, we must be introspective because of UNAIR,” he added.

In UNAIR, continued Dr. Hadi, if there are students who are accepted at UNAIR to register Bidikmisi, then we make sure they get a Bidikmisi scholarship. This is evidenced as around 20 percent of UNAIR students are Bidikmisi scholarship recipients.

“If accepted by Bidikmisi, don’t think about the costs, focus on the academics, “he said.

Dr. Hadi added, Bidikmisi can break the chain of poverty in the community. The underprivileged children with potentials will be able to continue their high education with Bidikmisi.

Meanwhile, Ayyun, the person in charge of Bidikmisi Goes to School 2018 said that the activity was the time for the participants to prepare enough information to be socialized to the nation’s future candidates in their respective regions. He hoped the 2018 BMGTS was in accordance with the theme of “educational equalization”. The BMGTS could target schools that did not know about Bidikmisi.

“Some people don’t know the information about Bidikmisi. In fact, they can actually enter Bidikmisi. So, I hope that information about this Bidikmisi can be received by all students throughout Indonesia, “he concluded. (*)
