AUSCA 2.0, Airlangga Appreciation for Indonesian Social Community

UNAIR NEWS –Student Executive Board (BEM) Universitas Airlangga (UNAIR), Ministry of Community Service successfully held National Seminar, Airlangga Urban Social Community Award (AUSCA) 2.0 on Saturday 24 November in Dharmawangsa Hall, UNAIR’s Hospital. The event began on Monday 19 November. The essay finalists were invited to visit Jolosutro Village to implement their work. This year, the event themed “Media for Good Social Action: Innovation of Education, Media Movements, and Development of a Competitive Social Community In The Digital Era”.

This national seminar was opened by Director of Student Affairs UNAIR, Dr. M. Hadi Subhan, S.H., M.H., CN. In his remarks, he appreciated the AUSCA 2.0 activities related to media associated with social movements.

“We know that media have an extraordinary power. We can make media as useful tool or spread negative news, “said Dr. Hadi.

In addition, Galuh Teja Sakti as President of BEM UNAIR, revealed that on Tri Dharma of higher education, there were education, research and development, and community service. So, students are required to help community with their knowledge. In addition, students should analyze what are the things that community needs.

“In community development plan competition AUSCA, students were trained to analyze what things that needs to be done for community. Especially for Jolosutro community, “said the student who is familiarly called Teja.

There were at least four speakers in there. They are Anji, Singer and Content Creator; Nur Rohim, founder of Master School; Drs. Imam Syafi’I, S.H., M.H, Director of JTV News and Production; and Mochamad Nur Arifin, Vice Regent of Trenggalek.

In the activity, Anji performed his song, Bidadari Tak Bersayap on his session. Not alone, Anji also accompanied by eight LO (Liaison Officers) to translate the song in sign language. The special moment was when the LO’s were taught directly by Anji himself before the event began.

In addition, there was also a celebration for a librabry and it was built by BEM UNAIR since 2017 in Jolosutro Village. In the end of this event, there were announcement for essay community development winner and an award for the selected community.

The winner of essay competition was a team from Bogor Agricultural Institute (IPB) Fitri Yanti, Devin Purnawansyah, and Pahmi Idris. Meanwhile, KOPHI community from East Kalimantan won the award in Environment field, Educator Circle Community from Batam in Education field, Community Care Concern House from Jakarta in Social Society field, and Womenpreneur Community from Surabaya in Economics field as well as the most favorite community.

Lutfi Akmal Muzakky, as the Head Executive of this activity, in his speech expressed his gratitude to all parties who played a role in this event. Started from committee until all national seminar participants.

“Thank you to the committee, participants, and essay finalists, social communities who participated in this activity, and all participants of AUSCA 2.0 national seminar,” he said. (*)
