UNAIR Students Show Entrepreneurship Innovation Products at IPB

UNAIR NEWS – Fourteen students from Universitas Airlangga, in five teams, participated in Indonesian Student Entrepreneurship (KMI) Expo IX held on Friday until Monday, 9-12 November at Institut Pertanian Bogor (IPB) Dramaga. In the event, UNAIR showed Bepair (Beta Pancreas Repair) products, an innovative healthy food product for diabetic patient.Rebikha Lusiana, a representative from Faculty of Pharmacy UNAIR, said that Bepair is the first healthy food product in Indonesia that used lablab beans (komak) as ingredients.

“Komak beans extract has been proven to reduce blood sugar level in research,” explained Lusi, her best friend.

In Indonesia, komak beans commodity is quite abundant. However, the use of komak beans is not optimized. Therefore, komak beans are choosen to be their innovation product. Besides, it also reduces blood sugar level, this innovation product can give an impact for local komak beans farmers.

Moreover, UNAIR team also showed their healthy mask called Coco Mask from Sambiloto leaf extract. There were also Airlangga Store, KPK Coffee Loeb, and Kompas in exhibition.

From all of the five teams, Lusi said that three teams were included in expo team and award team. The team included Bepair, Coco mask, and Airlangga Store. While the other teams only participated in the expo.

“What made me happy was meeting a lot of young entrepreneurs from universities across Indonesia, who in the future will become a milestone in economy. Especially later when Indonesia reached demographic bonus in 2030, “explained the girl who studies pharmacy..

The event entitled “Strengthening Indonesian Student Entrepreneurs through Techno-Sociopreneurship in Facing Industrial Revolution 4.0” was attended by 124 universities across Indonesia. The event, which was organized by Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education (KemenristekDikti),  aimed to bring entrepreneurial spirit of Indonesian students.

In KMI award there were five competition categories, such as food and drinks (2 classes), creative industries (2 classes), services and trade (2 classes), production and cultivation (1 class), technology (1 class). Which, each class consists of approximately 40 teams and there will be 1st, 2nd and 3rd place winners in each class. (*)
