UNAIR NEWS – On the same day of 64th Anniversary on Saturday, 10 November. UNAIR held a discussion with delegates from Asia University. In this discussion, UNAIR and Asia University, Taiwan emphasized coordination in double degree program.
The meeting was attended by delegates from Asia University led by Prof. Yinghuei, Chen. In addition, representatives of each faculty were also there, including the UNAIR Postgraduate School and Faculty of Vocational Studies. There were also Vice Dean I of Faculty of Science and Technology (FST) Dr. Hartati, M.Si .; Vice Director of Postgraduate School, Vice Dean III of Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) Dr. Nisful Laila, SE., M.Com; FISIP; and F.Psi.
Meanwhile, UNAIR Vice Rector I Prof. Dr. Djoko Santoso., Ph.D, K-GH., FINASIM, in his remarks hoped that the collaboration between UNAIR and Asia University would continue well. In this discussion Prof. Djoko hoped that Asia University can provide information regarding policies there. Both related to tuition fees and student requirements.
“The living cost for students in Taiwan, should not be a big problem. Given, the fact that living cost there is not different with Indonesia,” he said.
Prof. Djoko revealed his hopes regarding the possibility of UNAIR being able to correspond with Asia University. Moreover, it is possible that UNAIR can teach and conduct research in Taiwan, at Asia University.
On the other hand, Prof. Yinghuei, Chen or who also familiarly called Prof. Chen at this meeting explained that the tuition fees at Asia University is 1600 USD per semester andthere is also boarding fees for five months around 400 USD. Prof. Chen also advised students to buy private insurance for the first six months and then they can buy national insurance.
“For Indonesian and local students, they will pay the same amount of tuition fees. Either for Bachelor and Master Degree more or less the same,” said Prof. Chen.
Students can work for 20 hours per week in Taiwan to increase pocket money. However, if it exceeds the specified time, a work permit is needed.
At least there were five faculties planned to take part in double degree program. Postgraduate School majoring in Islamic Economics and Biomedical Engineering; FIB Linguistics (Master) majors; FEB majoring in Management (Bachelor and Master); and Vocational Studies Faculty majoring in Tourism, Management, English and Accounting.
