UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga became the first university obtaining ISO 21001: 2018 certification. This certification was obtained after one week of DeCRA audit. The ISO 21001: 2018 certificate was given symbolically during the 64th Anniversary of UNAIR at the Garuda Mukti Hall, Campus C UNAIR Management Office, on Saturday, 10 November.

ISO 21001 Certification: 2018 is the world’s first international management system standard for educational organizations. Regarding the provision of certification, the President Director of PT. Decra Group Indonesia Ir. Sholichin Agung Darmawan said that the ISO 21001: 2018 certificate was only published on May 2018. Thus, UNAIR became the first university to obtain this certificate.

There were 11 evaluation elements, including leadership, accessibility, ethical conduct, management, performance achievement, risk management, and follow-up.

“After we finished audit in one week, the result requirements was fulfilled,” said Sholichin.

Previously, UNAIR had obtained ISO 9001: 2015, MBNQA 2015-2016, and IWA 2: 2007. The ISO 9001: 2015 certificate expires on December 17, 2018. Because of that, before the certificate runs out, it is expected that there have been improvements related to the findings of an external audit.

Sholichin added that the certificate is valid for three years until December 2021. Each year it will be re-audited or monitored. Through this certification, he continued that it could help UNAIR in process and its output. The output is that UNAIR’s ranking can increase significantly.

Meanwhile, regarding the certification, Head of Quality Assurance Agency (BPM) UNAIR Prof. Dr. Sukardiman MS., Apt., said that UNAIR became the first university to get ISO 21001: 2018 certification in the field of education. The issuance of this certification based on an external audit conducted on November 5-9 2018, where audit reviews more outputs of education process.

“This certification became our logic consequence to be more enthusiastic in improving our performance to achieve the quality / performance targets that we made,” said Prof. Sukardiman. “Of course, we have to answer and resolve all the findings in short time. So, it won’t happen again next year, “he added. (*)
