Faculty of Vocational Studies Strengthens Collaboration with Bach Mai Hospital Hanoi Vietnam

UNAIR NEWS – UNAIR Faculty of Vocational Studies with Bach Mai Hospital, Hanoi, Vietnam on Tuesday, November 6 signed a Memorandum of Understanding. The faculty of Universitas Airlangga was represented by Prof. Dr. Retna Apsari, M. Si., as Vice Dean 1 and dr. Lailatul Muqmiroh, Sp. Rad (K) as KPS D4 Radiology Imaging Technology who were in Vietnam on November 5-9 2018.

In addition to the signing of MOU, Faculty of Vocational Studies also delivered 4 D4 Radiology Imaging Technology students to conduct an internship for 3 months starting from November 6, 2018 to February 6, 2019 at Bach Mai Hospital.

“They will also be an International Community Service as one of the direct manifestations of the MOU,” said Prof. Retna.

The initiation of MOU, according to her, was started a year ago. Intensive communication continues to be carried out via email with the support of Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE) team of UNAIR.

Bach Mai Hospital was represented by Prof. Pham Minh Thong (Deputy Director), Dr, Do Van Thanh (Head of International Cooperation Department), Nguyen Thi Huong (Deputy Head of International Cooperation Department), Assoc. Prof. Vu Dang Luu (Deputy Director of Radiotherapy Center), Dr. Vu Tri Tien (Deputy Director of Training Center), Dr. Le Anh Thu (Head of Scientific Research), and Bui Minh Thu (Head of Nursing Department).

“There are also several Radiotherapy Center technician staff and International Cooperation Department staff. The host was very welcome and cooperative host, and it made the delegation feel at home,” she added.

According to the Vice Dean 1, the MoU mainly implements full-time inbound students, full-time outbound students, and staff inbound and outbound, international research and publication collaboration. After the signing session, there was an intensive discussion related to real implementation of internships and training, discussion of research and publication activities, visits to all hospital facilities that will be used for student internships, and work directly on the relevant Imaging of Diagnostic Center with CT Cardiac protocol case studies and interventional radiology cases, which are the research focus of Dr. Lailatul Muqmiroh, Sp. Rad (K).

Bach Mai University Hospital, is the largest government hospital in Hanoi with a capacity of 3500 beds, 3 units of Angiography, MRI 1.5 T as many as 6 units, CT Scan 32 slice 2 units, 64 slice 2 units, 128 slice 2 units and 256 slice 1 unit and several X-ray units and mammography spread in emergency, outpatient, neurology, oncology units and in the central radiology unit.

“With 44 radiology specialists and 56 radiographers, it is expected to guide students to achieve their competencies and the possibility of research writing and publication,” she added.

The instruments, according to her, were very useful for Faculty of Vocational Studies  students, Alifatus Wahyu Nur Ma’rifah, Rizky Utami Ayuningdyah, Ayub Manggala Putra, and Iqbal Yusuf Wicaksono who were selected students after going through a selection from the program and Bach Mai Hospital. To add maximum competence in the field. With 3000 patients per day, international KKN will also be carried out by the four students.

“The initiation carried out by D4 Radiology Imaging Technology Program is expected to be followed by other programs in Faculty of Vocational Studies. This effort is one of the activities that improve academic peer list, student mobility and staff mobility towards UNAIR WCU,” she concluded.
