UNAIR NEWS – To increase the effort in maintaining dental and oral hygiene for elementary school students, Public Health Program Student Association PSDKU UNAIR Banyuwangi encouraged freshmen to conduct community service. The  community service was held at MIN 1 Sobo Banyuwangi, Tuesday 6 November.

A total 38 students were there to assist 109 elementary school students to learn more about dental and oral hygiene in MIN 1 Sobo Banyuwangi for classes 3A, 3B, and 3C. The entire commitee members were freshmen. Sekarningtyas Rahardianti Putri, one of committee’s members, said that this community service was the first contribution of freshmen to community.

“The value gained from this activity for freshmen are improved teamwork, getting closer to community, introducing more about dental and oral hygiene, and being more sensitive to their needs,” said Dewa Kinanti, head of the community service activities..

This community service debut was a success because of FKM freshmen’s teamwork effort. “Hopefully, it will give a bigger impact for MIN 1 Banyuwangi students and even for the FKM students themselves as a contribution to community,” concluded Dewa. (*)
