UNAIR NEWS – Central Board of Universitas Airlangga Alumni Association (PP IKA UA) has just inaugurated IKA UA in South Sumatra Region. It was held at Horison Ultima Hotel Palembang on Sunday, October 14. There was also alumni gathering activity in the inauguration.

In the event attended by dozens of UNAIR alumni from various professions scattered in various regions in South Sumatra. On behalf of UNAIR Rector, Vice Rector IV Junaidi Khotib Ph.D, in his remarks, invited the alumni who had just been appointed to carry out their duties and mandates.

“The inauguration that has just been conducted is the beginning of an extraordinary dedication to our alma mater and our nation,” he said.

Junaidi also invited all the administrators to actively carry out various activities which involved many alumni spread throughout the South Sumatra region. For him, doing so will make the alumni more solid.

“If we step forward together, we can be stronger,” he said.

Responding to the Vice Rector’s statement, Chairman of South Sumatra Region IKA UA Dr. dr. Anang Tri Wibowo Sp.M (K)., said that the effort to involve all alumni in South Sumatra will begin by strengthening the network, through activities and social media.

“In fact, I also have a plan to collaborate with BEM who are still active, to manage real contributions,” he said.

Meanwhile, Dr. Danar Dono, as the senior executive of South Sumatra Region IKA UA, said that the communication of UNAIR alumni in South Sumatra had been going on since 1963. In fact, many ideas were implemented by UNAIR alumni and referred by Palembang City Government and the South Sumatra Provincial Government for their activities.

“We already have a kind of alumni association in 1963, except that most graduates were doctors. Hopefully, with the new management of IKA UA, it can gather many alumni from various professions, “he said.

In the end, Head of UNAIR Student Executive Board (BEM) Galuh Teja Sakti also emphasized that alumni involvement was highly expected by students who were still active in college. In this regard, alumni can strengthen networks and communication with students who are active in college.

“We are very much waiting for the alumni role to join us (students) to make a real contribution for the nation,” he said.
