UNAIR NEWS – Research and innovation are the main aspects towards Universitas Airlangga reaching Top 500 World universities. In addition, research and innovation are also important parts of Higher Education Tri Dharma implementation.
For this reason, the Institute of Research and Innovation (LPI) UNAIR held a Workshop on the Selection of Research Schemes and Procedures of Research Proposal for DRPM through SIMLITABMAS in 2018. The event held at Wyndham Surabaya Hotel was attended by lecturers of Universitas Airlangga and several guests from several universities in East Java.
Representing UNAIR Rector, Vice Rector III UNAIR Prof. Mochammad Amin Alamsjah, Ir., M.Si., Ph.D., had the opportunity to open the event. In his opening remarks, Prof. Amin emphasized that all academicians must produce researches and innovations useful for the nation. He also stated that the effort made by LPI by inviting parties from the Ministry of Research, Technology and Higher Education, was a form of commitment to improve research and innovation.
“This is our commitment to make quality research proposals. We must be willing and continue to do research. This is our commitment, “he explained. “In the future we all want that from this research there will be real contributions for both our alma mater and our nation,” he added.
Furthermore, the Head of the LPI UNAIR Prof. Hery Purnobasuki, M.Si., Ph.D., explained about UNAIR Research Master Plan Dissemination. In his presentation, Prof. Hery also emphasized that in research and innovation requires commitment.
“We have a lot of targets but I hope we do not only meet the target but bring positive impacts as well, “he explained.
In the future, Prof. Hery called for the Research Master Plan to be bottom up in pattern. The superior research and innovation of faculties should be submitted to LPI. Furthermore, in the selection process, LPI will look at the quality of the researches.
“The researches will not easily accepted. Let us work together to conduct excellent researches, “he added.
Prof. Hery also emphasized the importance of research size. For him, it must be prioritized. In addition, he added, the results of the research must be real. Both in the form of Scopus journals, accreditation guidelines, textbooks, effective technology, intellectual property, and prototype models.
“I will monitor everything until the output is real,” said the Professor of FST UNAIR.
Meanwhile, as a guest speaker, Dr. Ir. Mustangimah as Head of Research Capacity Improvement, Directorate of Research and Community Service, Directorate General of Research and Development Reinforcement, Ministry of Research Technology and Higher Education explained about funding and research schemes. According to her, university researches must support the National Medium-Term Development Plan.
“So researches should not stop in reports only but must be in the form of many things,” she explained. “In this regard, choosing the scheme must be done carefully and do not make mistake in choosing so the output can be clear,” he added.
