UNAIR NEWS – “I had always wanted to follow an exchange program and it has been in my bucket list since junior high school. I have a dream to try the atmosphere studying abroad because the system and way of learning is different from in Indonesia, “said Azizah Surayya Warman who is always motivated to study abroad.
The student majoring in Management class 2016 successfully got a scholarship for exchange program to Spain. Azizah received a scholarship from Erasmus + Student Credit Mobility (A4U).
“I will start my study at Universidad de Madrid from September 1, 2018 to January 31, 2019,” explained the student from Jakarta.
Azizah said that to get the scholarship, she must get through three stages of selection. The first selection was conducted by Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE) by collecting some necessary papers.
After passing the first stage, the selected 9-10 students had to meet several requirements from institutions that provide scholarships.
The final stage of selection was conducted by Erasmus + institution. Of all applicants who register from all universities in Indonesia, 8 students selected. They are 4 students from UNAIR, and 4 students from Universitas Gadjah Mada (UGM) from various faculties.
Regarding the university’s support, Azizah said that the support from the university is very good, especially from the Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB).
“The faculty and faculty officials strongly support the students who want to follow the exchange,” she explained.
Azizah added, to get the opportunity to study abroad, she must be willing to reduce her vacation as she must meet the requirements for TOEFL test IBT.
“But I enjoyed the process. In addition, the short period for fulfilling the requirements makes me move fast, ” she added.
Through the program, Azizah can give a strong influence both on herself and for the environment. In addition, in the future Azizah also hoped to contribute more to the country and also to her alma mater, Universitas Airlangga.
“A message for other students, keep working and learning to all over the world while young and healthy. Do not be afraid of the process because to achieve something we want, we must go through the uneasy process so we are always grateful for what we get. Hopefully, all UNAIR students can bring the name of alma mater to the world, ” she explained.
In addition to Azizah, there are three students from UNAIR who get a similar scholarship. They are Zulian Reza Kurniawan (Faculty of Humanities), Nizzam Subchan and Tisa Larasati (Faculty of Social and Political Sciences). (*)
