UNAIR NEWS – To create synergy between alumni and university to achieve Top 500 universities in the world, alumni of UNAIR held alumni gathering event. The event which was held with iftar event was held on Thursday, 31 May at Ritus Restaurant, Jalan Pos No. 2 Pasar Baru, Central Jakarta.
There were 32 alumni of UNAIR attended the event. There was Desra Percaya who currently serves as Director General of Asia Pacific and Africa in the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Kemenlu). There was also Nia Niscaya, Deputy of Marketing Development II Ministry of Tourism (Kemenpar) and other UNAIR alumni both young and old generation.
On that occasion Desra welcomed alumni gathering event which is useful to connect ties between alumni. Desra also expected the event will be conducted continuously. “I hope this event will not only happen once,” he said.
In addition, Desra also asked alumni who currently serve as staff in Kemenlu to be willing to return to campus. It is intended that the staff can provide lectures to students at UNAIR, especially for undergraduate students.
“I also ask the staff in Kemenlu to be willing to return to campus to give lectures to students there, especially those who have doctorate degree,” he added.
The Indonesian Ambassador to the United Nations (UN) in 2012 also gave directions to the young alumni in Kemenlu to be able to perform well. In connection with World Class University (WCU), Desra will provide data on alumni who are on duty abroad to improve the employer reputation.
Nia who is also the sister of Desra fully supports UNAIR to reach Top 500 world universities. Nia said that with her colleagues, Nia is ready to return to college and give lectures.
“I fully support UNAIR to reach Top 500 WCU. With other alumni in Kemenpar, I am ready to return to campus to give lecture for UNAIR students, ” she explained.
There was an intimate atmosphere in the event. Many have longed for the organization of the event. The alumni who attended also hoped the event would not only take place once as it can bring together young alumni and senior alumni to stay in touch and share. (*)
