UNAIR NEWS – As a follow-up to the previous agenda on Wednesday, May 31 2018, the Center for Social Funds (Puspas) Universitas Airlangga allocate some social funds before Ramadan ended. On Friday, June 8, 2018 Puspas gave grants to beneficiaries.
The fund management is embodied in four programs, UNAIR Security Assistance Program; Drs. Ec. Hariyanto Basoeni Education Scholarship; Desa Gemilang Program; and Gemilang Scholarship Program. The aid was given by Drs.Ec. Hariyanto Basoeni, Director of Student Affairs, Dr. Hadi Shubhan SH, MH, CN; Director of Community Service Institute UNAIR Prof. Dr. H. Jusuf Irianto, M.Com .; and UNAIR Secretary Drs. Koko Srimulyo, M.Si., to the beneficiary and it marked the launching of the four programs.
The head of Puspas UNAIR Dr. Tika Widiastuti, SE., M.Si., after the event explained that Puspas UNAIR previously handed over the alms from Drs. Ec. Hariyanto Basoeni to 88 security personnel at UNAIR. She added, the donation was given to Dana Amerta Airlangga which is a UNAIR Endowment Fund.
“Another agenda is the symbolic distribution of UNAIR Puspas funds in synergy with LAZNAZ Al Azhar for the Desa Gemilang Program and Gemilang Scholarship,” she said.
Distribution agenda for Desa Gemilang Program and Gemilang Scholarship, continued Dr. Tika, is a follow-up to the signing of MoU between UNAIR and Lembaga Amil Zakat Nasional (LAZNAS) Al Azhar some time ago. In addition, the synergy between UNAIR and LAZNAS Al Azhar is the evidence of empowerment or the aid to the poor community is not identical with alleviating poverty. However, a measurable, comprehensive, and sustainable program is also required.
“Synergy from various parties is also needed,” she said. “One of them, between the academic community (UNAIR, ed) with civil society like LAZNAS Al Azhar,” she added.
Dr. Tika revealed, Desa Gemilang Program is expected to bring great benefits for the empowerment of rural communities in a comprehensive manner, especially to deal with problems in four sectors, health, education, economic, and religious based on local wisdom through continuous mentoring.
In addition, village programs can support Tri Dharma UNAIR. On the other hand, Gemilang Scholarship Program is also expected to help ease the burden of students who are studying at UNAIR, for example those who are studying at Faculty of Dentistry (FKG) who also attended the event.
On the other hand, Drs. Ec. Hariyanto who is also Chairman of Alumni Association UNAIR (IKA UA) stated that UNAIR actually has great potential. However, many do not really know about Puspas UNAIR. He hoped Puspas can grow bigger in the future. He added its existence can help UNAIR to overcome the social problems of the campus, as well as outside, including supporting UNAIR towards world-class campus. (*)
