UNAIR NEWS – The holy month of Ramadan is here, people have chosen ways to get closer to Allah SWT. From their consciousness and initiative to share, Department of Community Service, Student Executive Board (BEM), Faculty of Economics and Business (FEB) performed community service (BAKSOS) at Panti Griya Wredha, Surabaya, Friday, May 18.

The community service themed “Share the Love to All” was attended by members of the nursing home, the elderly, students and especially BEM FEB UNAIR officials.

“This community service was based on our concern and willingness to support those who need compassion by sharing love among others and sharing happiness with smiles,” said Rizky Ananda Putra, as Head of BEM FEB UNAIR.

In the event, there were various activities held to establish closeness and share love such as playing bonding games, art performances, having iftar, praying in congregation, tarawih prayer, sermon, gift sharing, video playback, and singing nostalgic songs.

In the event which was attended by 60 committees, 130 elderlies and several nurses, Agil as the coordinator said that community service is a fun activity to share among others, especially the elderly. Through the event, the elderly can share their life experiences.

“They have shared about all the experiences of life and gave us noble advice and motivation especially in living life in order to become a useful person,” he said.

At the end, Rizky hoped that such event can be held regularly and improved. The insight gained from it cannot be acquired in classrooms.

“We sincerely hope that other students can further cultivate their concern to the surrounding environment,” he concluded.
