Student Organization Inauguration, Rector Encourages Learning Process Optimization

UNAIR NEWS – The inauguration process of student organizations (ormawa) was the beginning of student organizations to do their duties for a year ahead. Therefore, the officials of Universitas Airlangga inaugurated student organizations’ staffs of UNAIR on Tuesday, April 3.

In the event held in Hall of Amerta, Management Office, Campus C UNAIR, Rector UNAIR Prof. Dr. M. Nasih, SE, MT, Ak., CMA inaugurated the members of the student boards consisting of the Chairman, Secretary, and Staffs of the Student Representative Assembly (MPM), Chairman, Secretary, and Staffs of Student Legislative Council (DLM), Head and Deputy of Student Executive Board (BEM), Head, Deputy, Secretary of Communication Forum (Forkom) of Student Activity Unit (UKM), and Head of all UKMs in UNAIR.

After shouting UNAIR slogan, the rector then congratulated the members of student boards for the 2018 term. On that occasion, Prof. Nasih also reminded all new board members of the limited period of stewardship and the learning process.

“As a student of course you have limited time. This is what we must realize together that to be activists in the student affairs is only temporary. In this regard, the status of a student as a learner should be held, “he said.

Furthermore, Prof. Nasih also added that the mandate given to lead student organizations should be interpreted as a learning process. Therefore, he added, various processes of adjustment and improvement must be done.

“In this learning process of course perfection will be achieved at the end. I am confident in this learning process, the you will learn to lead and be the real leaders, ” hoped Rector UNAIR to all student organizations’ administrators.

Before ending his speech, Prof. Nasih quoted some things on the functions of student organizations. He said that student representation at college level works like a bridge. According to him, the administrators must be able to convey all aspirations of students to the university management or vice versa.

Then, Prof. Nasih also said that the student organizations’ staffs should also acts as the executives of student activities, communication between students, the development of student potential as academics, potential scientists and intellectuals useful for the future.

Not only that, the inaugurated staffs were also expected to be able to develop organizational skills training, management, and lead the students as well as development potential nation cadres for the nation’s development.

“In 2019 UNAIR is targeted to reach Top 500 World universities. Therefore, all of you must support various activities that boost UNAIR towards the world’s top 500. Leave useless activities and contribute more. Good luck! “he concluded.
