Giving Information on Student Exchange Opportunities to Prospective Students

UNAIR NEWS – Universitas Airlangga is currently set to reach Top 500 world class universities. One way to realize the program is to send many students in exchange program abroad. Therefore, Universitas Airlangga provides early knowledge to prospective students at Airlangga Education Expo.

To the prospective students, Mustaghfiroh Yusuf as Airlangga Global Engagement (AGE) staff explained about student exchange and summer course. According to her, the summer course is part of the student exchange because student exchange is a student activity that goes to other universities abroad to conduct academic and non academic activities.

“UNAIR has established partnership with foreign universities in Asia, Europe, America, and this opportunity is wide open for UNAIR students, ” she said.

The woman known as Firo also said that the more UNAIR students studying abroad then the better UNAIR reputation in the world. So UNAIR’s goal to be ranked in the Top 500 in the world can be achieved.

The best alumna of Communication Studies in 2010 added that the students must follow some procedures to follow one of the programs such as the selection on the papers, TOEFL scores required, and good academic scores.

“There are also interviews and focus group discussion. The goal is to accelerate and improve confidence of students in speaking English, ” she added.

Firo added that one of the programs in UNAIR is Amerta Program (Academic Mobility Exchange for Under Graduate at Airlangga). In the program, all the foreign students from all over the world who study at UNAIR are in an international class.

“If you become part of the Universitas Airlangga, you can all get a great experience because you can be in a same class with foreign students. This program needs no additional cost anymore and is open to all faculties. But there are requirement as described earlier, ” she said.

At the end of the conversation, Firo explained about the financial problems. There are programs that cover all costs and some organizers only covered some of them such as the United States-Indonesia Partnership Program (USIPP).

“All students are entitled to join the student exchange program. The duration of the program depends on the policy of the partner university, ” she concluded.
