UNAIR NEWS – The Chairman of the Indonesian Ulema Council (MUI) KH. Ma’ruf Amin was warmly welcomed by the officials of Universitas Airlangga . KH. Ma’ruf Amin who is also a member of the Board of Trustees (MWA) UNAIR came to answer the invitation of the MWA to provide some input.
In a brief meeting held in Rector’s room on Saturday, February 16, KH. Ma’ruf Amin mentioned about the synergy of universities and MUI in developing economic potential. Accompanied by his wife and several MUI officials, KH. Ma’ruf Amin stated that in developing economic potential, MUI needs the role of universities. Therefore, he hoped that UNAIR can become one of the universities with significant role in increasing the economic potential in the community.
“The role of state universities in maximizing the potential of people can be done through research and a set of systems, especially in this digital era. We all understand that those who understand and master digital are all in college, ” explained KH. Ma’ruf Amin.
Furthermore, in developing the economic potential, KH. Ma’ruf Amin asserted that the economic system from the bottom should be implemented. Therefore, MUI encourages universities to be responsible for providing guidance and innovation.
“Therefore, in managing the nation’s economy, MUI desperately needs synchronization and supports and innovation from state universities,” he said.
In response to KH. Ma’ruf Amin’s statement, Rector of UNAIR Prof. Dr. Moh. Nasih, SE., MT., Ak., CMA., stated that in developing the potential that exists in the community, UNAIR has committed through the organization of related study programs. In addition, it also has a Halal Product Research and Development Center.
“We have the first doctoral program of Islamic economics in Indonesia, complete from S1(bachelor’s degree) and S2 (master’s degree). In addition, we have provided a Halal Product Research and Development Center, “said Prof. Nasih.
In line with the rector, Vice Rector I UNAIR Prof. Djoko Santoso, dr., Ph.D., Sp.PD., K-GH., FINASIM., who was also present at the meeting said that synergy and collaboration are very important. Therefore, Prof. Djoko stressed that the university is ready to commit to these things.
“To develop that potential, we also hope MUI is willing to provide certification for Halal Product Research and Development Center as well as hospitals that we have,” he explained.
At the end of the conversation, Prof. Nasih reiterated that to improve the synergy between UNAIR and MUI, he hoped that KH. Ma’ruf Amin in the future is pleased to give guest lectures, seminars and sermons at UNAIR. “We hope in the fasting month later on KH. Ma’ruf Amin is pleased to give sermons at the campus mosque, ” said Prof. Nasih. (*)
